Pirates' Drew Maggi making first MLB start Thursday afternoon

Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Drew Maggi is in the starting lineup against left-hander Julio Urias and the Los Angeles Dodgers in Thursday afternoon's series opener.

What It Means:

Maggi, a 33-year-old career minor-leaguer, will start on third base and bat eighth in his first MLB start. Tucupita Marcano will start on second base and bat leadoff while Ke'Bryan Hayes takes a breather. Mark Mathias will cover right field and bat seventh while Connor Joe shifts to first base and cleanup duty in place of an idle Carlos Santana. Austin Hedges will replace Jason Delay behind the plate to catch for Mitch Keller and bat ninth.

numberFire’s models project Maggi ($2,000) for 6.6 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Pirates' implied total is 3.60 and the game total is 8.0.
