Steve Pearce (elbow) out again Friday for Rays
Tampa Bay Rays utility man Steve Pearce (elbow) remains out of the starting lineup Friday.
Pearce had a pinch-hit single in Thursday's loss to the Minnesota Twins, but he's out of the lineup again for a third straight game due to inflammation in his right elbow. He should be back in there at some point over the weekend. Taylor Motter is at second base. The Rays also have Mikie Mahtook in center field over Desmond Jennings.
Pearce has been a pleasant surprise in Tampa Bay this season, hitting .304/.393/.536 in 145 plate appearances while recording eight home runs and 20 RBI's. Our models currently project him to post a .332 wOBA with a .247/.327/.448 slash in 272 plate appearances over the remainder of the season.
