Cardinals officially release infielder Ruben Tejada
The St. Louis Cardinals have released infielder Ruben Tejada.
The Cardinals designated Tejada for assignment on May 28, and he passed through waivers untouched. He is a free agent now that the team has officially cut him loose.
The 26-year-old infielder was hitting a paltry .176/.225/.235 in 40 plate appearances with St. Louis, but he figures to be able to find a new team in relatively short order.
