Rays' Wander Franco (quad) 'ready to start' for Opening Day
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco (quad) avoided a significant injury and said Monday that he'll be "ready to start on Thursday" as the team takes on the Detroit Tigers.
Franco was scratched before the Rays' most recent game due to quad soreness, which initially caused concern about his availability for Opening Day on Thursday. Fortunately, it seems like the third-year infielder is just dealing with some soreness and should be good to go for the start of the season.
Franco is projected to score 10.6 fantasy points against the Tigers on Opening Day. While he has never hit for power in the Majors, our models project him for a solid .280 batting average this season, which ranks seventh among all starting shortstops in our projections.
