Owen Miller makes Brewers' Opening Day roster

The Milwaukee Brewers will open the season with Owen Miller on the roster, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

What It Means:

Miller entered spring training in competition with Joey Wiemer (the Brewers' number 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline) for a spot in the outfield, and ultimately won that competition to begin the season. Wiemer was optioned to the Triple-A level following this decision. Miller offers the Brewers a versatile fielding skill set, and could play infield in addition to outfield as needed.

Miller had some moments with the Guardians in the 2022 season and finished the year with a .243 batting average, but his lack of power led to him finishing the season with a .652 OPS overall. While his 42 plate appearances in spring training are a limited sample size, he did manage to up his slugging percentage to .487 this preseason, a marked improvement over last year's .351 mark.
