Padres get decent showing from James Shields
San Diego Padres starting pitcher James Shields pitched respectably in Wednesday's no-decision against the San Francisco Giants, surrendering two runs on five hits over six innings.
Shields struck out six and walked one on the afternoon. RBI singles by Kelby Tomlinson and Matt Duffy in the second and sixth innings, respectively, accounted for the scoring on the veteran right-hander's line.
Shields will carry a 3.06 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 21.21 strikeout percentage (64 2/3 innings) into his next scheduled start, a road date with the Seattle Mariners. He holds a 2-6 record in his 10 starts this season.
