Anibal Sanchez allows six through six in Tigers' loss
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez allowed six runs -- three earned -- over six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Phillies.
Sanchez got very little help from his defense in this one, with Jose Iglesias, Cameron Maybin, and Steven Moya all committing errors. But the right-hander made enough messes on his own, yielding eight hits (including two home runs) in the 8-5 loss. Sanchez will carry a 6.04 ERA into his next start on the road against the Los Angeles Angels.
The 32-year-old is now 3-6 in 10 appearances on the year. He is striking out 8.05 batters per nine frames across 53 2/3 total innings and owns a 19.83 strikeout percentage.
