Pirates giving Jordy Mercer day off against Colorado
Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer is out of the lineup for Monday's makeup game against the Colorado Rockies.
What It Means:
Sean Rodriguez will get a rare start at shortstop with Jung Ho Kang (hand) also still sidelined. Mercer has a respectable .303 average and .391 OBP in 41 games this season. It's just a routine day of rest.
In 173 plate appearances this season, Mercer has posted a .318 wOBA while hitting 16 RBI's with one home run and one stolen base. He has a .303/.391/.372 slash for the year.
