Rays put Francisco Mejia on paternity list
The Tampa Bay Rays placed catcher Francisco Mejia on the paternity list.
The Rays recalled catcher Rene Pinto from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday in a corresponding move. Christian Bethancourt will start behind the plate again on Tuesday and hit sixth versus right-hander Nathan Eovaldi and the Boston Red Sox. Ji-Man Choi will serve as the designated hitter and No. 5 batter.
Bethancourt has a $2,100 salary on Tuesday and numberFire’s models project him for 11.0 FanDuel points. Choi has a $2,000 salary and is projected for 9.9 FanDuel points. Since mid-July, Eovaldi has only managed a 16.6% strikeout rate over his last seven starts, and he's allowed 1.30 home runs per nine innings in that span.
