Joaquin Benoit (shoulder) set to return to Mariners' bullpen sans rehab
Seattle Mariners pitcher Joaquin Benoit (shoulder) will rejoin the Mariner bullpen without being sent on a rehab assignment, when healthy.
Benoit threw a successful bullpen on Wednesday and will make a simulated appearance on Saturday. Shoulder inflammation sidelined him in late April, but he could be ready to return to the majors as early as next week.
The 38-year-old Benoit has earned one win on the year across five innings of work, recording a 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 19.05 strikeout percentage before getting hurt.
