Cubs' Miguel Montero (back) may not require a rehab assignment
Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero (back) may not require a rehab assignment.
Montero was placed on the disabled list with a back issue last week but didn't show any ill effects at batting practice on Thursday, even hitting a few home runs. There's a good chance he'll return from the disabled list as soon as his 15 days are up. David Ross and Tim Federowicz have been sharing time behind the plate in his absence.
Montero currently has a slash line of .208/.316/.333 with a .269 wOBA across 57 appearances at the plate. We project him to finish the season with a .298 wOBA, nine homers and 37 RBI's in over 323 more plate appearances.
