Marlins' Peyton Burdick making MLB debut Friday

Miami Marlins outfielder Peyton Burdick is in the starting lineup for Friday afternoon's series opener against left-hander Justin Steele and the Chicago Cubs.

What It Means:

Burdick was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday after the Marlins demoted Jesus Sanchez a day earlier. The 25-year-old rookie will start in left field and hit seventh in his MLB debut.

numberFire's models expect Burdick to bat .200 over the remainder of the season. He slashed .229/.344/.430 with 14 homers, 70 runs, 51 RBI, and eight steals over 88 games at the Triple-A level before being promoted.
