Royals' Mike Moustakas absent Tuesday due to thumb bruise
Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas is absent from the starting lineup Tuesday against the Washington Nationals because of a bruised thumb.
We reported earlier Moustakas was out, but now we know why. He originally bruised the thumb in Anaheim and then jammed it in Seattle. He might also sit out Wednesday. Christian Colon is starting at third base Tuesday night against Nationals' right-hander Tanner Roark.
Moustakas is slashing .258/.317/.548 with a .370 wOBA and 7 home runs in 101 plate appearances this season. Our models currently project him to hit .277 with a .337 wOBA and 18 home runs over the remaining course of the season.
