Reds call up John Lamb for Tuesday start

The Cincinnati Reds activated pitcher John Lamb from the 15-day disabled list.

What It Means:

Lamb will start Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants in place of Jon Moscot, who has been dealing with a shoulder issue. Acquired from the Royals in the Johnny Cueto deal last July, the 25-year-old Lamb was forced to begin this season on the disabled list following back surgery in December. He had an ugly 9.22 ERA through 3 rehab starts in Triple-A, but he had a 12/3 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings and averaged 10.5 K/9 over 10 starts with the Reds late last year. He's worth grabbing in NL-only formats.

In addition to the high strikeout total, Lamb posted a 3.73 xFIP in 49 2/3 innings last season. Our models currently project him to record a 5.45 ERA and a 19.7 strikeout percentage in 99 innings in 2016.
