Jeter Downs sitting for Red Sox Monday
The Boston Red Sox did not list Jeter Downs in their lineup for Monday's game against the Cleveland Guardians.
What It Means:
Downs will sit out the team's series opener with the Guardians while Bobby Dalbec covers third base. Franchy Cordero will start at first base, Alex Verdugo will play out of left field, and Rob Refsnyder will bat second as the designated hitter.
Downs has struck out in 8 of his last 11 plate appearances, so hopefully the game off will help him right the ship.
