Luke Maile sitting for Guardians in Game 1 on Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians catcher Luke Maile is not in the starting lineup against left-hander Devin Smeltzer and the Minnesota Twins in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The Guardians placed Hedges on the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday, so Maile is set up to be the primary backstop for a week. That being said, Maile is sitting for the matinee while Sandy Leon starts behind the plate and bats eighth. Cleveland acquired Leon from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for cash considerations on Tuesday. Maile will likely start in the second game.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Guardians' implied total is 4.25 and the over/under for the game is 8.5. Smeltzer has a 12.6% strikeout rate and a 6.3% walk rate this season.
