Nick Fortes sitting for Miami Monday
The Miami Marlins did not list Nick Fortes in their lineup for Monday's series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Fortes hit the game-winning walk-off home run in the Marlins' victory over the New York Mets Sunday night, but will move to the bench for Monday's game while Jacob Stallings starts at catcher and bats ninth.
Fortes has certainly been making a case for increased playing time based on his 44 plate appearances this season; he's batting .289 with a .965 OPS and has 3 home runs, 15 runs, 7 RBI, and 2 stolen bases. With Stallings struggling at the plate, Fortes could see an increased role soon.
