David Murphy asks Twins for release
Minnesota Twins outfielder David Murphy has asked the club for his release, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Murphy signed a minor league deal with the Twins earlier this month. The thought was he would quickly make his way to the major league roster, but apparently an opportunity wasn't imminent. The 34-year-old recently discussed the possibility of retirement, so he could revisit that scenario now.
Murphy was hitting .194 (7-for-36) with one home run, one double and three RBI's through 10 games with Triple-A Rochester.
