Jason Castro sitting out on Friday for Astros

Houston Astros catcher is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Boston Red Sox.

What It Means:

He's just getting some rest. Erik Kratz is behind the plate in Castro's place and batting ninth.

Castro struggled in his 375 plate appearances in 2015, slashing .211/.283/.365 with a .284 wOBA, all of which were career lows for any season in which he played more than 67 games. He's off to a 5-for-38 (.132) start this season with 18 strikeouts in 14 games. Our models currently project Castro to post a .293 wOBA with 14 home runs in 456 plate appearances in 2016.
