Sean Doolittle (triceps) throws 25 pitches in bullpen for Athletics
Oakland Athletics reliever Sean Doolittle (triceps) threw about 25 pitches off a mound Monday in Athletics' camp.
"Awesome day," he said after the workout. "Very happy with how it went." Doolittle was diagnosed over the weekend with a slight left triceps strain, but he expects to be ready by Opening Day. The lefty closer is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game on Wednesday afternoon.
Doolittle threw just 13 2/3 innings in 2015 due to a shoulder tear. He owns a career 3.08 xFIP in 192 2/3 innings and a 29.9 strikeout percentage. We project Doolittle to post a 3.32 ERA and 25.5 strikeout percentage in 2016 while recording 30 saves.
