Jake Bauers acquired, making Mariners debut Thursday afternoon
The Seattle Mariners acquired first baseman Jake Bauers from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations.
Bauers could see regular playing time while Evan White is out with a hip injury. The former top prospect will make his Mariners debut at first base and bat seventh in Thursday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Tyler Alexander and the Detroit Tigers. Ty France will be Seattle's designated hitter while Mitch Haniger will replace Dillon Thomas in right field.
Bauers is slashing just .190/.277/.280 in 113 plate appearances this season, though his expected numbers (.260 xBA, .401 xSLG) are both career-bests. Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Mariners are one of five teams playing Thursday with an implied total above 4.5 runs.
