Mets' Kevin Pillar suffers nasal fractures in win
New York Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar suffered multiple nasal fractures as a result of being hit in the face by a pitch during Monday's 3-1 win against the Atlanta Braves.
Pillar was plunked in the face by a 94.5-mph fastball in the seventh inning of Monday's series opener. The outfielder is scheduled to meet with a facial specialist in Atlanta before deciding on the next steps. The Mets' outfield is already missing Michael Conforto (hamstring) and Brandon Nimmo (finger), and now it looks like Pillar will join his fellow outfielders on the injured list. Khalil Lee and Johneshwy Fargas, who the Mets called up on Monday, could see plenty of playing time over the rest of the month.
Pillar is averaging 6.4 FanDuel points per game this season while slashing .250/.294/.388 across 86 plate appearances.
