Washington Nationals outfielder Yadiel Hernandez is in the starting lineup on Friday against right-hander Rick Porcello and the New York Mets.
Hernandez will bat cleanup and replace Kurt Suzuki as the Nationals' designated hitter. Yan Gomes will catch Max Scherzer and move down two spots to bat sixth. Hernandez has gone 4-for-16 (.250) with a .813 OPS in his first nine games in the majors.
