Angels' Andrelton Simmons opts out for remainder of 2020 season
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons opted out for the remainder of the 2020 season on Tuesday.
Simmons, whose contract with the Angels is set to expire at the end of the season, has chosen to opt out for the final stretch of the 2020 MLB season. In a statement released on Tuesday, he said that "At this moment, I feel this is the best decision for me and for my family." He also thanked the Angels organization and fans for welcoming him and his family and making them feel at home.
Simmons will finish the season with a 0.297 batting average, 19 runs, 10 RBI, and 2 stolen bases in 127 plate appearances.
