Cubs designate Steven Souza for assignment
Chicago Cubs outfielder Steven Souza has been designated for assignment Saturday.
What It Means:
Souza was let go in the middle of the Cubs' two doubleheader games against the St. Louis Cardinals, and he'll be placed on waivers for a team to claim him. If he goes unclaimed, Souza could either accept an assignment at the team's Alternate Site or elect free agency.
In 31 plate appearances this season, Souza has a .148 batting average and a .591 OPS.
