Royals' Ryan O'Hearn (COVID-19) cleared to return

Kansas City Royals first baseman Ryan O'Hearn (COVID-19) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

What It Means:

O'Hearn will not be available for the Royals' opener on Friday against the Cleveland Indians, but he was asymptomatic for the virus and should be ready to play soon. O'Hearn is expected to share time with Ryan McBroom at first base this season. His batting average dropped off from .262 as a part-time rookie to .195 last year in a larger role. O'Hearn's OPS also tumbled from .950 to .650. However, he was mashing in the spring, as his 1.252 OPS after 13 games led all batters. He turns 27 on Sunday.

numberFire's models project O'Hearn to record a .224 batting average and .702 OPS with 5 home runs, 15 RBI, and 14 runs scored in 131 plate appearances this season.
