A's Jesus Luzardo (COVID-19) could feature in first or second game
Oakland Athletics pitcher Jesus Luzardo could be ready to pitch in the team's first or second game, according to manager Bob Melvin.
Luzardo joined camp late after testing positive for COVID-19. Since then, he has faced an uphill battle to be ready in time for the start of the season and was not part of the A's starting rotation that was announced on Saturday. Once he's back up to speed, Luzardo is expected to claim a spot in that starting rotation.
numberFire's models project Luzardo for a 4.05 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 54 strikeouts, 18 walks, and 3 wins over 53 2/3 innings pitched this season.
