Athletics' Sean Manaea feels good following tuneup
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sean Manaea said he felt good following an exhibition start against the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
Manaea allowed 3 runs on 4 hits over five innings with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk. After spending most of last year recovering from shoulder surgery, Manaea displayed diminished velocity upon returning in September, but he still produced an excellent 1.21 ERA and 27.5 strikeout percentage over 29 2/3 innings (five starts). “I feel good and that’s all that matters,” Manaea said after Monday's outing. “I’m not really worried about velocity or if it will come back. As long as my arm feels good, I’ll be fine.”
numberFire's models expect Manaea to record a 4.17 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 50 strikeouts and 16 walks over 56 innings this season.
