Yankees put Masahiro Tanaka (concussion) on IL
The New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 19, with a concussion.
What It Means:
Tanaka suffered the concussion on July 4 when he was hit in the head by a line drive. It sounds like he may only miss one turn in the rotation. Tanaka tossed a 4.45 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with a career-low 19.6 strikeout percentage over 182 innings last season. He posted at least a 25.0 strikeout percentage in 2017 and 2018.
