A's Frankie Montas will start on Opening Day
Oakland Athletics' pitcher Frankie Montas will get the start in the team's season opener against the Los Angeles Angels on July 24th.
Montas impressed in limited Cactus League action this spring after posting a 2.63 ERA and a 9-2 record in 16 starts for Oakland last season. Sean Manaea, Mike Fiers, Chris Bassitt, and A.J. Puk were announced as the four other members of the A's starting rotation. Jesus Luzardo (COVID-19) reported to camp this week and is expected to take a spot in the starting rotation at some point this season.
numberFire's models project Montas for a 4.06 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 65 strikeouts, 19 walks, and 4 wins over 64 2/3 innings pitched this season.
