Hector Velazquez optioned to Orioles' second site
The Baltimore Orioles optioned right-handed pitcher Hector Velazquez to Double-A Bowie.
The move seems to indicate Velazquez will not be part of the 30-man roster when the Orioles start their season against the Boston Red Sox on July 24. The 31-year-old was claimed off the waivers from the Red Sox back in March. He turned in a career-worst 5.43 ERA over 56 1/3 innings last season (34 games, eight starts). Velazquez's versatility as a reliever and starter could allow him to contribute for the Orioles at some point this season. The Orioles also added right-hander Dean Kremer to their 60-man player pool.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Orioles are tied for having the worst odds (+30000) to win the 2020 World Series.
