Indians' Emmanuel Clase suspension shortened to 60 games, will miss full 2020 season
Cleveland Indians pitcher Emmanuel Clase had his performance-enhancing drugs suspension reduced from 80 games to 60, according to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com.
This was done after the 2020 season was cut down nearly by two-thirds due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of the usual 162, MLB teams will now play a shortened 60-game slate. So while Clase's suspension was reduced by 25 percent, he'll still miss the entire campaign. However, this move means he'll be fully reinstated in time for Opening Day 2021.
In 23.3 innings pitched last season for the Texas Rangers, Clase had 21 strikeouts, six walks, one save and a 2.31 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP.
