Rays' Blake Snell (elbow) cleared for throwing program
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Blake Snell has been cleared to resume throwing for the first time since undergoing left elbow surgery in July.
Snell is expected to return in September. He's regressed from last year's 2018 Cy Young Award campaign, but the left-hander should still help improve the Rays' rotation.
Snell owns a 4.28 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 136 strikeouts and 35 walks in 101 innings (20 starts) this season.
