Anthony Rendon (elbow) placed on Nationals' injured list
The Washington Nationals placed third baseman Anthony Rendon on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 27, with a left elbow contusion.
Rendon was initially hit by a pitch in the elbow on April 20 and tried playing last Friday, but he still needs time to heal. The earliest return date is May 7. Howie Kendrick figures to see most of the starts at third base while Rendon is sidelined. Wilmer Difo is manning the hot corner on Wednesday.
Rendon is batting .356/.442/.740 with a 1.182 OPS through 86 plate appearances this season.
