Tigers trade two prospects to Yankees for Justin Wilson
The Detroit Tigers acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Wilson from the New York Yankees for pitchers Luis Cessa and Chad Green.
Wilson, a 28-year-old reliever with three MLB seasons under his belt, posted a stout 3.12 xFIP with the Yankees last season. He fanned 9.74 hitters per nine innings while walking 2.95 hitters per nine innings, both of which were career-best clips.
Green is a 24-year-old starting pitcher. Over the last three seasons, he posted FIPs between 3.08 and 3.22, advancing to Double-A. Cessa is a 23-year-old starter who split his 2015 between Double-A and Triple-A. After putting up a sparkling 2.69 FIP in 77 1/3 innings at Double-A, he closed out the year with a 3.40 FIP in 37 2/3 innings in Triple-A.
