Brad Peacock 'leading candidate' for Astros' fifth spot
Houston Astros pitcher Brad Peacock is the "leading candidate" to begin the year in the fifth spot in the rotation, manager A.J. Hinch said.
Peacock was the expected choice after Josh James suffered a quad injury. The 31-year-old right-hander owns an impressive 1.50 ERA with 10 punchouts over 12 innings this spring. James could eventually compete for the fifth spot again if Peacock struggles during the year.
numberFire's models expect Peacock to record a 3.50 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 98 strikeouts and 26 walks across 72 innings this season.
