Marlins' Jorge Alfaro cleared to resume baseball activities

Miami Marlins catcher Jorge Alfaro (knee) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

What It Means:

Alfaro initially injured his knee on February 23 and then aggravated it on March 5. He hasn't played since, but Marlins manager Don Mattingly is hopeful Alfaro will be available for Opening Day. The 25-year-old backstop will be Miami's starter in his first season with the club following a February trade with the Philadelphia Phillies.

numberFire's models expect Alfaro to bat .242 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 4 steals this season.
