Rockies, Mariners no longer talking Mark Trumbo deal

Seattle Mariners left fielder/first baseman Mark Trumbo is no longer the subject of trade talks with the Colorado Rockies, reports Thomas Harding of MLB.com.

What It Means:

It had been previously reported by FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal that the Rockies discussed Trumbo with the Mariners, but apparently it was not a recent conversation. It's always possible the two clubs decide to begin talks again, but nothing is current and the Rockies have Ben Paulsen to use at first base. The Mariners are under a bit of a deadline as they have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday to tender a contract to Trumbo for 2016. Although the option to tender him a contract and then trade him elsewhere is also on the table. The Baltimore Orioles are reported to be interested in Trumbo, potentially even more so if they lose free agent first baseman Chris Davis.

Over 545 plate appearances in 2015, Trumbo hit 22 home runs with a .759 OPS. He was worth a total 1.1 Wins Above Replacement. He finished with a 1.1 Ultimate Zone Rating (UZR) at first base and a -2.8 UZR in the outfield.
