Jason Hammel may not have a ceiling quite as high as McCullers does, but he provides a very solid floor. Hammel has allowed 2 runs or fewer in 8 of his last 11 outings.

Hammel’s 20.7% strikeout rate and 7.6% walk rate don’t inspire too much excitement, but he’s posting a 24.1% strikeout rate with a 21.1% soft-hit rate over his last 20 innings. He's been really good at Wrigley Field, the site of tonight's game, limiting opposing hitters to a .268 wOBA in his home starts.

He will face off with the Chicago White Sox in the third game of the series between the Windy City rivals. The White Sox have won the first two games, but they have one of baseball’s weaker offenses, ranking 23rd in wOBA (.309), 23rd in ISO (.148), and 23rd in homers (99).
