Tanner Roark has made significant jumps from his 2015 season, showing early improvements in strikeout percentage, ground ball rate, home run-to-fly ball rate, hard hit rate, and xFIP.

With his K/9 now sitting at a respectable 7.98 -- up from 5.68 a year ago -- he has become a daily option with his strikeout upside. This season, 10 of his 16 starts have resulted in five or more strikeouts, including his impressive 15-strikeout performance against the Twins.

Tonight he’ll face the Reds, who are a great matchup for right-handed pitching. Versus righties this season, they rank 27th in wOBA at .298 and 24th in strikeout rate at 22.8 percent.

Roark is only a slightly smaller favorite than Steven Wright at -195, making him a great stud option to use if you pivot away from the Boston knuckleballer.
