Franklin Gutierrez, OF, Seattle Mariners

Franklin Gutierrez is a guy with some pretty extreme platoon splits, which keeps his salary very low even when he's in a good spot against a lefty.

This season he's hitting .267 against left-handed pitching and only .067 against righties. Obviously this is extreme and over a fairly small sample size, but he also has a career .359 wOBA and .199 ISO against lefties, with only a .289 wOBA and .122 ISO against righties.

He's up against a lefty tonight in Pat Dean, who will be making only his fourth Major League appearance, and only his second start. Dean also posted some fairly dramatic platoon splits in Triple-A, allowing a .698 OPS to righties last season.
