Franklin Gutierrez is always a nice bargain dart throw whenever the Mariners are facing a lefty, which is the case today as Seattle faces Cincinnati Reds’ southpaw John Lamb in a matchup at Great American Ballpark. Lamb’s numbers -- 5.47 SIERA, 12.9% strikeout rate and 9.4% walk rate -- are downright awful this season, leading to Seattle having an implied total of 4.74 runs, the second-highest highest mark of the day. For his career, he owns a .358 wOBA against lefties. Another feather in Gutierrez’s cap (better yet, his helmet) is that the Reds’ home field ranks fifth in home run factor.
