Jacob deGrom, the day’s most expensive pitcher by $1,400, has a dream matchup with the punchless Padres in pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

San Diego is near the bottom of the barrel in just about every offensive statistic. In fact, the Padres rank third-to-last in strikeout rate (25.9), home runs (21) and wOBA (.283). Petco Park is the second best pitcher’s park, according to three-year averages of ESPN’s Park Factors. The Padres’ implied total of 2.82 runs is the night’s lowest mark.
