Carlos Frias, Los Angeles Dodgers

Yahoo Ownership: 6%
ESPN Ownership: 8%

The Los Angeles Dodgers have dealt with a lot of injuries already in 2015, but inserting Carlos Frias into the starting rotation at the beginning of May has led to positive returns. Frias has a 2.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 4.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K/BB).

Frias hosts the Miami Marlins Tuesday. The Marlins have been able to hit to start the season (.273 team average on the road), but there is reason to believe that Frias can continue to shine. Miami has the second highest groundball-to-flyball ratio against right-handed pitching at 1.12. In four games (two starts), Frias has a rate of 1.71. Another interesting stat to take not of is that 13.2% of Miami's runs scored are unearned, the second highest in the MLB. Miami is getting bounces to go their way early on in 2015.

The Marlins are also top 10 in baseball in strikeouts against righties and on the road while their 36 walks away from Miami is among the bottom third in baseball.

Frias also gets a crack at the Colorado Rockies at Chavez Ravine. The Rockies have struck out 120 times while only taking 27 walks in road contests, so there’s a chance for Frias to pad his K/BB rate. Colorado can score and do so with power (52 extra-base hits in 515 road at-bats), so Frias is a bit of a riskier play at home over the weekend. A quality start against the Marlins, and Frias is a two-start option this week.
