Whit Merrifield, 2B, Kansas City Royals

FanDuel Price: $4,400

Whit Merrifield is off to a solid start this year, posting two stolen bases with a 15.4% walk rate. But can he replicate that success tonight against Jose Berrios?

It may be a bit of a tall chore.

Merrifield has been far better against southpaws over his career. Taking 2018 as an example, the second baseman recorded only a .329 wOBA and .116 ISO over 510 plate appearances versus righties.

On top of that, Berrios was brutally tough on right-handed hitters last year, giving up only a .283 wOBA, 24.1% strikeout rate, and 31.4% hard-hit rate. Factor in that Jason Castro could be behind the dish tonight, and his 40.0% caught stealing rate from 2018 would've been the fifth-best mark in the game if he logged enough innings to qualify.

All in all, it's hard to roster Merrifield with much conviction tonight.
