Ramon Laureano is batting leadoff in an Oakland Athletics offense that ranks second in the Majors in wRC+ (120) over the last 30 days. That's already a highly valuable spot, and that becomes especially true in a matchup like they draw tonight against Andrew Cashner and the Baltimore Orioles.

Cashner is coming off a 2017 campaign that saw him post a 5.52 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), and his 5.30 clip in 2018 isn't much better.

We've only got a 107 plate appearance sample on Laureano, but he's sporting a strong .369 wOBA and .234 ISO on an elite 47.7% hard-hit rate and 10.8% soft-hit rate in that time. His solid work from the dish is no surprise when you consider the .394 wOBA he notched in Triple-A this year, and he has no business being priced this low in such a good spot.
