Nix dealt a scoreless six innings in that outing, but that came with a 4.60 SIERA. We saw a similar trend in his only career Triple-A start, where he also allowed no earned runs over six innings but posted a 4.10 xFIP. And to get a bigger sample, he made nine Double-A starts in 2018, posting a middling 3.93 xFIP at that level. He's had some success so far, but a deeper look at the numbers reveals that we can expect things to get much worse for the 22-year-old.

Paul Goldschmidt does his best work with the platoon advantage, but he's still producing well against righties this year, turning in a .386 wOBA and .241 ISO on a 45.7% hard-hit rate and 35.9% fly-ball rate, giving him plenty of upside.
