The Boston Red Sox are in a decent spot against Los Angeles Angels' lefty Andrew Heaney tonight, and their slate-high 5.11 implied total reflects that.

Heaney does have a solid 3.89 SIERA over a moderate 13-game sample this season, but he has been tagged for a 35.4% hard-hit rate, which is right in line with his career-average 35.6%. He has been especially shaky against right-handed bats, with a 4.11 xFIP on a 39.6% hard-hit and 40.8% fly-ball rate.

Those contact numbers are not likely to serve him well against J.D. Martinez, who has a ridiculous 51.2% hard-hit rate and 11.6% soft-hit rate against southpaws this season. In 183 plate appearances against lefties over the last two seasons, he has racked up a .461 wOBA with a .364 isolated slugging (ISO), and the MLB's home run leader continues to bring giant upside into tonight's matchup.
