Adam Duvall, OF, Cincinnati Reds

Price: $2,800

Matt Boyd's 3.23 ERA this year represents a massive improvement from the 5.27 he posted in 2017. His 4.76 SIERA, though, is only a slight jump from 2017's mark (4.94). His walk rate is up to a career-high 9.2%, and while his strikeout rate is up a bit, that comes with a drop in swinging-strike rate. The 34.7% hard-hit rate he is allowing is also right in line with last year's 34.6%.

He has an especially worrying 5.25 xFIP against right-handed bats, making this a great spot for Adam Duvall. To put it simply, Duvall's production has been terrible this year. He's hitting only .186, with a .281 wOBA, but there's plenty of room for optimism.

Duvall's batting average on balls in play (BABIP) sits at only .209, while both of his 100-plus plate appearance seasons in the Majors saw him post marks of at least .275. His 39.3% hard-hit rate is a career-high while his 18.0% soft-hit rate isn't much higher than his career-average (17.2%), and it's likely that this low BABIP is just variance -- meaning we can expect his production to increase moving forward. He has also still been showing plenty of pop, with a .200 ISO on the year.
