Nick Ahmed, SS, Arizona Diamondbacks

It's over a small 75-plate-appearance sample, but Nick Ahmed has put up terrific numbers against southpaws this season. He has 40.4% hard-hit rate and 40.4% fly-ball rate with only a 10.5% soft-hit rate, and that has translated to a .377 wOBA and .271 ISO. Going back to include the 2017 season (up to 128 plate appearances), that wOBA jumps to .407 against lefties with a still strong .254 ISO.

He's up against a southpaw today in Jason Vargas, who has opened 2018 with a 4.58 SIERA after struggling to the tune of a 4.86 SIERA last year.

The 35-year-old Vargas has a 4.67 xFIP against right-handed bats over the last two seasons, and Ahmed shouldn't have much trouble continuing to produce here.
